Program Objective:

By the end of this course, the trainee will be able to:

Film Music & The Orchestra: Storytelling Through Sound 

Program Objective:

By the end of this course, the trainee will be able to:
Demystify and Simplify the use of the orchestra in compositions through focusing on its practical use in Films. 
By the end of this course, students will be able to: 
 
1. Identify the Emotional and Textural Capabilities of the Orchestra 
Recognize how different instrument families contribute to mood, tension, and storytelling in film music. 
 
2. Analyze Orchestral Film Scores 
Break down and understand how composers use orchestration techniques in various film genres, such as Action, Romance, Horror, Adventure, Comedy, and Drama. 
 
3. Apply Orchestration Techniques to Enhance Composition 
Utilize orchestral textures, dynamics, and instrumental combinations to create expressive and impactful film music. 
 
4. Develop a Practical Approach to Orchestration 
Gain hands-on experience in writing and arranging music for the orchestra, whether for live performance or digital production. 
 
5. Enhance Storytelling Through Music 
Learn how to match orchestral choices to cinematic moments, strengthening the emotional impact of a scene. 
 
6. Create Original Orchestral Film Music 
Compose and arrange music that effectively conveys emotion and atmosphere, applying learned techniques to original projects.

Target Audience:

Composers, music producers or musicians interested in writing orchestrally for film or just adding orchestral elements to their productions. Preferably with some knowledge in using DAWs like Logic, Cubase, Fruity loops etc.. and or notation softwares like Sibelius.

The Art of Musical Theatre 

Program Objective:

By the end of this course, the trainee will be able to:...
 
1. Analyze Musical Theatre Scripts and Scores 
Break down scripts and musical scores to understand character motivations, relationships, and thematic elements. 
Identify key moments for vocal, acting, and movement expression in a performance. 
 
2. Develop Characterization Skills 
Learn techniques for creating well-rounded, authentic characters that resonate with audiences. 
Practice methods for integrating emotions, motivations, and backstory into performance. 
 
3. Refine Movement and Physicality 
Develop physical movement skills that align with character traits and enhance storytelling. 
Practice dynamic stage presence through movement and body language. 
 
4. Master Vocal Performance 
Strengthen vocal technique to deliver clear, expressive, and controlled performances. 
Explore vocal exercises to enhance range, projection, and emotional expression. 
 
5. Hone Acting Techniques for Musical Theatre 
Apply acting methods to incorporate emotion and depth into character portrayals while staying true to the musical format. 
Practice techniques for maintaining character integrity during singing and dancing sequences. 
 
6. Integrate Singing, Acting, and Movement 
Learn how to seamlessly combine vocal performance, acting, and choreography in a cohesive way. 
Practice synchronized performance techniques to maintain character consistency throughout the musical. 
 
7. Prepare for Rehearsals and Performances 
Develop effective rehearsal strategies for working within a group and receiving direction. 
Cultivate techniques for staying in character throughout the rehearsal process and live performance. 
 
8. Strengthen Ensemble Work 
Collaborate with peers to build chemistry and harmony within group scenes and musical numbers where applicable. 
Develop the ability to support and engage with fellow performers in both large and small ensemble settings.
