The cluster covers a wide area of research that includes signal processing on both machine generated audio contents and human speeches to help designing communication system that take into account both the signal characteristics and the tansmission media. The cluster focuses on the following research areas:
-
The study the continuous improvements of digital video coding/encoding to help narrow the gap between the users’ demands and the limited capabilities of transmission networks and storage devices.
-
The study of Computer Vision, Computer Graphics and Visualization. Among the research interests is extracting descriptive data from real-world digital images as well as manipulation of digital images. Algorithms developed in this field may be used as pre-processing steps to enhance the outcome of a vision system. The group also covers very interesting research areas such as 3D Reconstruction, Computation photography, and Augmented Reality (AR).
