Apart from advancing research on the regional opportunities, sustainability challenges and innovation in the aviation sector, the workshop has the following objectives:
- To bring together complementary expertise on developmental and sustainability challenges in the Middle East & North Africa region (MENA) and beyond
- A road map for Egyptian policy makers with a particular focus on opportunities and constraints in developing Cairo International Airport into an aviation hub/cluster
- Support of economic development as a crucial backbone of political transformation
- Development of a strategic partnership with the WZB, a leading research institute in Germany
- Fostering intellectual exchange between researchers, educators, policy makers and industry professionals and experts
- Mobilization for a kick-off meeting for joint project workshop with German partners at GUC Berlin campus
- Giving selected students and junior researchers from Egypt an opportunity to present their contributions in a poster session
