Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Research in the department focuses on the development of novel pharmaceuticals through chemical synthesis and semisynthesis. Major fields comprise synthesis of selective Phosphodiesterase inhibitors and their chemical and biological characterization, the synthesis of novel neuroactive and antiviral drugs as well as the development of novel Biosensors and development of novel analytical procedures for the identification and isolation of active compounds. Another focus is the identification, isolation and characterization of novel pharmaceuticals from marine resources.

The department is composed of the following research groups:

A.1 Pharmaceutical Chemistry

I - Pharmaceutical Chemistry I

II - Pharmaceutical Chemistry II
