Overview
The Diploma is a credit hours-based postgraduate program that is offered by the Faculty of Postgraduate
Studies and Scientific Research and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in
Cairo. The program is carefully designed to target the different fields of Pharmacoeconomics, including
pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacy practice, clinical nutrition, pharmacovigilance, and
pharmacoeconomics, from the theory as well as practice perspectives. Moreover, the program has a continuous
follow up and evaluation plan for the candidates through assignments, practice-based activities, journal
club, final exams, and a graduation research project. Other remarks that make this program unique include:
Placement test for candidate selection and prominent national and international instructors

The Diploma in “Pharmacoeconomics” is intended for those who have earned a “Bachelor in Pharmacy” degree, or
equivalent.

Employability
The Diploma in “Pharmacoeconomics” graduate can be employed in widely varied fields including:
- Hospitals, clinical laboratories, public and private health centers, pharmaceutical companies, private
insurance companies, clinical research organizations
- public bodies responsible for managing and/or funding pharmaceuticals and health services
- pharmaceutical and health service management training centers, consultancy and advisory firms related to
the health sector
Objectives of the Diploma in “Pharmacoeconomics”
At the completion of the Diploma in “Pharmacoeconomics” a graduate will be able to:
- To be equipped with the sufficient multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in the field of
Pharmacoeconomics to be able to take charge and responsibility in areas related to different disciplines
of concerned specialization.
- To use the educational attainments for the benefit for human and public health in accordance with legal,
ethical and bioethical principles
- To develop learning skills that will allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely
self- directed or autonomous, and to take responsibility for their own professional development
- To have the ability to apply their knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities, in new or
unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) context related to Pharmacoeconomic
Offered Courses per semester:
The first semester contains 4 courses (all are mandatory). The second semester contains 4 course (3 mandatory
courses and 1 elective course).
Admission Steps:
According to German University in Cairo admission to this program is competitive. The admission criteria are:
- Bachelor degree from a recognized University.
- An acceptable score on the GUC English admission test.

- Applicants that fulfill the admission criteria are invited for via e-mail to take the GUC English admission test (GUC graduates are exempted from this test).
- Applicants who are accepted are invited for a short interview
- Submission of requested documents on the day of the interview

- Military status for male applicants
- Copy (front & back) of the National ID Card/ or passport for non Egyptian students
