Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry II (PHCM223)
Offered By:
Pharmacy and Biotechnology Faculty
Description
Introduction into the chemical principles relevant in pharmaceutical analysis, i.e., types of chemical equilibria, applying Le Chatelier’s principle, and how they affect the proceeding of a chemical reaction; calculation of pH of mono- and poly function acids and bases; buffers and their properties. Principles underlying the construction of titration curves relevant for drug analysis, such as those for acid-base-, redox-, and complexometric as well as precipitation reactions; application of the Nernst equation as well as gravimetric analysis. The course includes a theoretical and a practical part.
