The German University in Cairo invites applications for vacancies to be filled effective September 2025.
The Faculty of Applied Science and Arts enrolls 1,250 students in three design programs: Graphic Design, Product Design and Media Design. The Design Workshops are an interdisciplinary department and a fundamental part of the faculty. They provide an introduction to basic craft skills and are an important resource where students conduct experiments, realize assignments, create design prototypes and participate in research.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Printing Techniques and
Bookbinding workshops in all aspects of workshop
management, thereby expanding the capacity,
efficiency, and creative profile of the Letterpress
Typograhy workshop.
• Conduct regular introductory and advanced
courses for students according to schedule and
supervise individual student projects.
• Monitor health and safety regulations, plan
workshop investments, and oversee the purchase
of materials.
Experience/Skills:
• A creative professional and design graduate with
experience in academic teaching or a specialized
craft.
• Ability to experiment and work with different
materials.
• Motivated to gain experience in an intercultural
academic environment and willing to develop an
own profile at the intersection of digital graphic
design, craft and technology.
• Knowledge of current and future design
approaches.
• Ability to work well with colleagues from diverse
cultural backgrounds, professional experiences,
and aesthetic sensibilities.
• Ability to structure and define project goals to
promote and motivate positive experiences.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and writing
skills in English, the language of instruction.
• Good management skills, including the ability to
meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and
motivate.
• An interest in working collaboratively within the
GUC and with external partners to develop joint
projects.
Requirements:
Academic titles are assigned to successful candidates based on the highest degree earned, industry experience, and teaching and research experience.
