Ahmed Moussa graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the German University in Cairo in 2019. During his studies, he distinguished himself as an award-winning researcher, dedicated to harnessing artificial intelligence to develop resilient, intelligent, and equitable infrastructure systems. He also pursued his bachelor’s thesis at the University of Stuttgart in Germany, further expanding his international academic experience.

 

Moussa went on to earn his PhD in Machine Learning and Data Science, focusing on Systemic Risk Modeling in Infrastructure Systems, from McMaster University. There, he demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement and was awarded the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal, the highest academic honor conferred upon graduates in Canada.

 

Dr. Moussa was also named an NSERC-designated Vanier Scholar, Canada’s most prestigious doctoral fellowship, a highly competitive award granted to researchers who exemplify academic excellence, impactful research, and leadership at the highest level.

 

His research explores how AI-driven approaches can enhance resilience and sustainability across the built environment, addressing complex challenges at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and society. Throughout his academic journey, Moussa has fostered multi-sector collaborations bridging academia, industry, and government, translating research into tangible real-world impact.

 

He is deeply committed to mentorship, inspiring emerging engineers and scientists to think creatively, lead responsibly, and act ethically in an evolving digital era. Ahmed Moussa believes that meaningful innovation begins with empathy, and that intelligent systems should not only make the world smarter—but also fairer and more compassionate.
