Information and telecommunication technology is a tremendously expanding field with a high workforce demand. The bachelor program of communication engineering is designed to prepare the students to play a leading role in the continuing adventure of modern communications – researching, designing, building and marketing the next generation of products.
Communication Engineering graduates have excellent chances in wide variety of technology ranging from huge global positioning systems which can pinpoint the location of a moving vehicle to gigantic electrical power generators. These engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing as well supervising the production of telecommunication systems, radar and navigation systems and wireless communication networks. These engineers are involved in designing new products, writing requirements for their performance, as well as developing maintenance schedules and charts. Testing equipment and machinery, solving operation problems, estimating time and cost of electrical and electronic products also come under their job.
Degrees
The Faculty of Information Engineering and Technology is offering an International Bachelor program in Communications. This program consists of 8 semesters which take 4 years to complete. The degree that will be issued is a Bachelor of Science in Information Engineering and Technology. The international bachelor enables the students to enter an International Master Program. The Master programs consists of three semesters and the degree that will be issued is a Master of Science in Information Engineering and Technology.
According to the law in Egypt demanding at least 10 semesters as requirement for the Egyptian Bachelor in Engineering, a student can get the Egyptian Bachelor after another year of his/her study after the International Bachelor program. This year is considered to be the first year (2 terms) in the study program towards getting the International Master.
As for international accreditation, the Faculty of Information Engineering and Technology at the GUC received the accreditation from the Accreditation Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN) for both Bachelor and Master programs on the 19th of September, 2006.
