Overview:
The Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Faculty of Engineering and Materials Science (EMS) in collaboration with the Solar City at the German University in Cairo (GUC) are pleased to offer a postgraduate diploma in Solar Energy Systems. The idea of the Solar Energy Diploma evolved according to the framework of the state's plan for sustainable development 2030, such that the production of electrical energy in the Arab Republic of Egypt by 2030 from renewable energy should not be less than 42%.
Employability:
- Common jobs in the field of Renewable Energy Systems.
- Design Engineer of PV systems and solar collectors.
- Maintenance engineer for PV systems and solar collectors.
- Sales Representative.
- Contractor in PV systems and solar collectors.
Diploma’s Objectives:
The objective of this diploma is to offer a theoretical and a practical background about Photovoltaic panels and Solar collectors and their applications in practical life. Such that the applicant learns the following;
- Design a PV system based on the electricity demand from a practical and a theoretical point of view.
- Select the proper PV cells based on the region of application.
- Design a PV system using the software PVsyst.
- To be a certified PVsystem installer.
- To be capable of monitoring and identifying the temporarily failures of PV systems.
- To select and apply the proper maintenance scheme for a PV system and a solar collector system.
- Design a solar collector system based on the hot water demand.
- Calculate the feasibility of the solar collector and the PV system for a certain application.
