Description
This Course is offered to 6th semester Structural Engineering Major
The course presents practical methods of structural analysis using computers to calculate the internal forces required for the design of structural members. It also prepares the students for the advanced courses in the areas of structural analysis, mechanics, and design. It contributes to the knowledge and skills required by the structural engineers in the following topics of engineering science and design: Flexibility method of consistent displacements; Stiffness analysis; Direct stiffness method; Selection of structural models; Moment distribution method for beams and frames; Practical analysis techniques for building frames; Applications of spread-sheets, macro-programming languages, and commercial analysis packages to solve practical problems.
