Course Prerequisites

Description

  1. Modelling Models of resources, operating strategies and traffic, queueing models
  2. Traffic Modelling Measurements, analysis of measured data and statistical evaluation, approximations
  3. Stochastic Point Processes Poisson process, renewal processes and non-renewal processes
  4. Markovian Queueing Systems M/M/n loss and M/M/n delay system, serial queueing systems, queueing networks with product form solution
  5. Delay Analysis Little’s theorem, delay distributions
  6. Analysis of Non-Markovian Queueing Systems Pase method, interrupted and switched Poisson process, Markov-modulated Poisson process, Embedded Markow Chain method, method of moments, supplementary variable method, Lindley’s integral equation
  7. System Simulation Random number generation and stochastic variable transformations, event-by-event simulation, simulation tools
  8. Performance Modelling Examples Communication channel, switching systems, control, protocols. Resource dimensioning
