Physics is about understanding the basic principles which govern the world around us, ranging from the inside of the atom, the colors of sunset and rainbow to the universe. Physics is also about inventing new technologies which can change the way we are living. (Computers, electronics, energy, lasers, ...)
“Doing Physics” requires knowledge, skills and curiosity for the things around us.
The Physics Department at GUC works towards all these aspects:
Introductory Physics Courses in the Engineering and Pharmacy programs equip the students with the skills and knowledge required to solve physical and other problems. Advanced courses and Bachelor projects for students in the Engineering Faculties are a growing field. They go in line with the research interests of the Physics Department staff, which include Laser and their applications in various areas, Renewable energy, Nuclear Physics and the study of Material properties.
But: You do not need to study Physics to look at the world around you with open eyes: Watch out for the Departments public activities which demonstrate the beauty and value of physical effects.
