The German University in Cairo is seeking an experienced and dedicated Housekeeping Section Head to oversee and manage the housekeeping services across our university campus and Student hostel. The successful candidate will ensure the maintenance of a clean, safe, and orderly environment by supervising and coordinating the activities of housekeeping staff, managing resources, and implementing efficient processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management
o Oversee and provide guidance to housekeeping cluster heads and in-house housekeeping staff.
o Develop and implement effective housekeeping strategies, policies, and procedures.
o Create and develop an annual plan for the summer period with coordination with the relevant other departments.
- Operations Management
o Ensure all university and students hostel, are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
o Monitor and manage housekeeping operations to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
o Ensure regular inspection of Campus areas.
o Coordinate daily housekeeping activities and special cleaning projects.
o All necessary coordination with other departments for smooth operations.
o Following the tasks which are done by the Subcontractor.
o Prepare for the events and VIP visits.
- Resource Management
o Manage the procurement, maintenance, and inventory of housekeeping equipment, consumables, chemicals, and tools.
o Review and update the chemical & consumables list towards cost efficiency techniques without affecting service.
o Prepare and manage the housekeeping budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Staff Development
o Train, develop, and evaluate housekeeping staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to standards.
o Promote a positive and inclusive work environment, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
- Compliance and Safety
o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.
o Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential hazards or deficiencies.
o Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas.
- Communication and Reporting
o Maintain open communication with university administration, providing regular updates on housekeeping operations.
o Prepare and submit weekly reports on housekeeping performance, improvements and challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Facilities Management, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in housekeeping management, preferably in a large or complex environment.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with a proven ability to manage and develop a large team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using housekeeping management software and MS Office Suite.
- Experience in budget preparation and resource allocation.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with eco-friendly cleaning practices and medical wastes.
- Knowledge of maintenance and operational procedures for housekeeping machinery and chemicals.
