Monday, September 1, 2025

From sparks of curiosity to moments of discovery, Sieger Explorers by the German University in Cairo (GUC) and DISK is an immersive journey designed to unlock every child’s potential. Over the summer of 2025, children and teens came together to experiment, create, and learn in a vibrant, supportive environment, taking a step toward building skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Since 2003, the German University in Cairo has offered children’s talent exploration and development programs tailored for ages 4 to 16. Sieger presents a variety of hands-on educational activities designed to inspire and engage young minds, from simplifying sciences to fostering artistic, musical, and athletic talents. Some programs were even tailored for children and teens with special needs. Throughout the Sieger journey, participants are introduced to foundational knowledge in science and the arts, sparking curiosity and encouraging them to explore their unique abilities.

With the opening of DISK (Deutsche Internationale Schule in Kairo), this range of activities was grouped in  Summer 2024 under a dedicated GUC-founded talent center named “Sieger”. Since then, Sieger Talent Center has trained around 300 students.

The journey begins with exposure to multiple fields, introducing children to diverse career paths and industries. Through Sieger’s interactive workshops, students engage in practical activities and meaningful discussions, moving on to the next stage—uncovering their passions. During this phase, they identify their interests, refine their skills, and ultimately reach the final stage: realizing their full potential. Sieger’s mission is to empower every student to achieve their best.

The Arts and Crafts Workshop for 4-year-old children offered a variety of creative activities, from designing and painting tote bags to making face masks and painting pottery. In the Be a Character Designer workshop, young creators sculpted unique characters using plasticine, transforming imagination into tangible art. These sessions encouraged self-expression, skill development, and artistic confidence in a space filled with creativity and inspiration.

In Robotics, students progressed through two levels and three rounds, building functional robots capable of responding to their environment. They learned the fundamentals of robotics, mechanics, and block-based coding, integrating sensors and motorized mechanisms to bring their creations to life. Code Scouts introduced students to the fundamentals of programming through interactive storytelling and simple game design, giving them the confidence to innovate in a digital world while also developing critical thinking skills.

The Junior CEO: A Start-Up Journey from Problem to Pitch workshop immersed students in the exciting world of entrepreneurship. They visualized products, designed promotional materials, and learned about brand creation, prototyping, pricing strategies, and digital marketing.

In Chemistry, students conducted safe and visually stimulating experiments to introduce foundational concepts. They learned about recycling by converting used frying oil into colorful homemade playdough and explored acid-base reactions through the fun Fizzy Lemon experiment.

The summer of Sieger 2025 began in May and continues through August, featuring a total of 13 highly successful workshops with 324 students participating over the past four months. Sieger Explorers was also integrated into the GUC 2025 Summer Camp, where certain workshops—such as the Deutsch Workshop and Chemistry—were held as part of the program. This integration encouraged children to learn and explore in an engaging and hands-on environment. All workshops were supported and supervised by GUC faculties, including Applied Arts, Management, Pharmacy, Computer Science, and Engineering, ensuring a high level of expertise and guidance for every participant.

Looking ahead, Sieger will continue to expand its range of programs, introducing new workshops that blend creativity, science, technology, and entrepreneurship. As part of these plans, Sieger Center will also align its activities more closely with official holidays, ensuring greater accessibility for students and families. The goal is to nurture confident, curious, and capable young individuals ready to face the future with enthusiasm. With a commitment to inspiring self-discovery through exploration, Sieger is set to remain a leader in innovative educational experiences—empowering the next generation to dream, explore, and achieve.
