The German University in Cairo (GUC) successfully concluded the first round of its pioneering Sieger Explorers Center workshops, leaving an indelible mark on bright young students who were welcomed to the DISK School campus for a week-long immersive experience, held from June 15 to June 19.

Throughout the five-day journey, participants engaged in interactive, hands-on workshops meticulously curated to nurture their individual talents and aspirations. Under the expert guidance of GUC professors, the young learners embarked on dynamic educational paths, gaining practical skills, conceptual knowledge, and meaningful exposure to fields that are shaping the future.

The workshops spanned two distinct and enriching tracks: Code Scouts: Exploring Technology and Junior CEO: The Entrepreneur’s Journey. Both tracks reflected GUC’s commitment to fostering early intellectual development, creativity, and leadership through experiential learning.

Code Scouts: Merging Coding, Creativity, and Collaboration

Led by Dr. Nada Sharaf, the Code Scouts workshop invited children aged 7–9 to dive into the world of programming through engaging and playful activities. The workshop introduced fundamental coding concepts in a fun, accessible way — allowing participants to create interactive stories and simple games using beginner-friendly languages.

Tech games, digital quests, and daily coding challenges transformed the learning experience into an adventure, with curiosity taking the lead. Teamwork was at the core of this workshop: students collaborated on group projects, brainstormed creative solutions, debugged code together, and celebrated their “big brain” moments in a collaborative, laughter-filled environment.

The Code Scouts experience provided not only technical skills but also the confidence to explore and innovate in a digital world — all within a supportive, hands-on setting.

Junior CEO: A Start-Up Journey from Problem to Pitch

In parallel, the Junior CEO workshop — led by Dr. Rasha Hassan — introduced older students to the exciting world of entrepreneurship through a fast-paced, challenge-driven experience. Participants began by identifying real-world problems using design thinking methods and quickly moved into building their startup concepts.

Through engaging sessions, students learned the essentials of brand creation, prototyping, pricing strategies, and digital marketing. With tools like Canva and Figma, they visualized their products and designed compelling promotional materials. The workshop culminated in a Shark Tank-style pitch competition, where teams presented their startup ideas using storytelling, teamwork, and well-crafted visual aids.

By the end of the week, each participant had contributed to a fully developed mini-startup — gaining hands-on experience in business thinking, innovation, and public speaking.

The Sieger Explorers Center’s success of Round 1 was evident in the energy, enthusiasm, and achievements of the participants — from impressive coding projects to confidently delivered business pitches. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, parents, and facilitators further affirms the impact of this initiative.

As GUC looks ahead to future rounds of the program, Sieger Explorers is set to grow as a flagship platform for nurturing Egypt’s young innovators, creators, and future leaders.
