Beyond the Space Workshop in Berlin

At GIU Berlin Campus (from 15th to 24th of July)

Neveen Farag and Theodora Ramzy

The "Design, AI and Music" workshops recently concluded with great success, featuring 15 sessions attended by 260 participants and led by 22 distinguished academic professors. This significant event realized a long-held dream, originally inspired by the German Cultural Week held in Upper Egypt years ago, and now revived in Germany. The primary goal was to share knowledge and skills in music, design, artificial intelligence, and communication.

These workshops, a collaborative effort between GUC, GIU, and GIU Berlin, brought together a diverse group of participants from around the world, including individuals from Greece, Turkey, Germany, and many other nationalities. The international attendees engaged across various fields, including design, AI, music, and the metaverse. In addition to the educational benefits, these workshops offered invaluable travel opportunities, enabling participants to expand their horizons, build global connections, and experience the enriching benefits of cultural exchange.

"Beyond the Space" workshop explored the intricacies of interior design by examining two distinct types: food and beverages, and residential design. Participants were guided through different scenarios and styles, allowing them to apply their knowledge to various client needs and preferences.

Key Highlights:

1. Design Scenarios: The workshop focused on two main scenarios—food and beverages and residential interiors. Each scenario presented unique challenges and requirements, reflecting different client needs and design styles.

2. Diverse Clients and Styles: Participants worked with a variety of clients and design styles, gaining experience in tailoring their approach to meet specific demands and preferences.

3. Mood Boards and Technical Drawings: Students selected a scenario and client, then created mood boards, floor plans, and technical drawings to visualize and plan their designs.

4. Final Products: The end deliverables included final models, renders, and 3D models of the interior designs, showcasing the application of design concepts and techniques.

5. Useful Tools: Participants explored applications and websites that assist in the design process, such as room planners, to streamline their work and enhance their designs.

6. Rendering Different Styles: The workshop emphasized the importance of rendering various design styles, allowing participants to practice and refine their ability to present different aesthetic approaches.
