Connects 2024

The German University in Cairo organized a series of workshops on design, AI and music in the German capital, Berlin. The workshops were attended by Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo; Advisor Ahmed Al-Ansari, representing Ambassador Khaled Galal, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Germany; Peter Greisler, General Director of the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Anke Riefenstahl, Commissioner for International Science Policy and Foreign Education and Research Policy at the Federal Foreign Office; Amina Demirovic-Kuhne, Mayor of the Reinickendorf District Office in Berlin; Dr. Michael Harms, Deputy Secretary General of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD); along with a number of prominent journalists, media professionals, and public figures from both Egypt and Germany. The aim was to achieve knowledge and cultural exchange between the Egyptian and German peoples.

Prof Dr. Ashraf Mansour, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo, GUC and Co-chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German International University, GIU in the New Administrative Capital, stated that the decision to open the university's campus in Berlin came at an important time. He pointed out that the German embassy hosted the delegation from the German University to facilitate the opening of the university's branch in Germany, and the German Foreign Office showed great enthusiasm by appointing a dedicated person to finalize the paperwork for the German University students traveling to Berlin. The deputy minister stamped the papers for the first 67 of these students.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo added that the "Design, Artificial Intelligence, and Music" workshops included 15 workshops with 260 participants and 22 academic professors. This event fulfills an old dream from when the German Cultural Week was organized in the provinces of Upper Egypt years ago, and now this idea is being revived in Germany. The aim is to teach music, design, artificial intelligence, and communication. He pointed out that the events included students from Cairo and others from various nationalities such as Greece, Turkey, Germany, and a group of different nationalities who came together to communicate in several specialties, such as design, artificial intelligence, music, the metaverse, and others.

Dr. Ashraf Mansour addressed the youth aged 18 to 30, saying, "You have a great responsibility. Your participation in the workshops aimed at communication is significant. You have discussed and learned the arts of design, forming friendships regardless of background, nationality, or ideology. You are responsible for achieving a safe world."

The event concluded with a music concert under the slogan "Connecting through Music," featuring a team from various nationalities, including Egyptians, Germans, and Moroccans, who performed a selection of Egyptian and German songs, greatly admired by the participants attending the celebration..
