Advanced Video Processing (DMET 902)

Description

This course introduces the students to some major topics in digital video compression. The course is intended to be self-contained, hence, reasonable preparation for most of the topics will be provided. The course coverage includes Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation (ME/MC), Transform Coding, Entropy Coding, and Video Coding Standards with an emphasis on AVC as one of the latest video coding standards. Introduction to other emerging topics such as Scalable Video Coding (SVC) and Video Watermarking will be also introduced. The students should expect to model different algorithms using SW (MATLAB and/or any other programming languages) and/or HW description languages.
