This course is a broad introduction to engineering hydraulics, including both pipe flows and open channel flows. The objective of the course is to provide a physical understanding of phenomena and concepts in advanced water flows and to introduce calculation methods to analyse a number of important hydraulic problems. Moreover, this course will provide students’ knowledge on the parameters governing the flow through open-channels, and the types of water-surface-profiles. The course deals mainly with free-surface flows with emphasis on open-channel hydraulics.
