Advanced Landscape Planning Studio I (LDSP901)
Offered By:
Engineering and Materials Science Faculty
Description
Egypt’s population, currently 80 million inhabitants, will double within the coming 40 years, which requires the development of new urban settlements all over the country. The semester will focus on this theme and the students will work closely with the “urban planning” students to develop parallel landscape planning concepts.
“Landscape planning is the key planning instrument for nature conservation and landscape management, making an important long-term contribution to the conservation of natural resources. It not only addresses the narrower areas of particularly valuable protected sites, but also devises strategies for full-coverage, sustainable conservation and long-term development of nature and landscapes”. The students will be exposed to all such issues and will apply them on both the macro and micro scales.
