Offered By:
Engineering and Materials Science Faculty
Description
Egypt’s population, currently 80 million inhabitants, will double within the coming 40 years, which requires the development of new urban settlements all over the country. The semester will focus on this theme and the students will develop different types of urban design projects in new areas that fit within a larger urban planning context, which they- as a group- develop on the macro-scale.
On the micro-scale, the students will analyze the impact of economic, social and cultural aspects on their specific urban design projects; they will also produce all necessary site analysis studies, location analysis, and they will thoroughly examine the different complex variables and activities that affect the urban designs of their projects. They will develop project programs and concept designs, which they will carry through design development and construction documents.
