Course Prerequisites

Description

Students will be familiarized with basic structure of the most important biomolecules (lipids, sugars, proteins, DNA), mechanisms of energy metabolism (fatty acids, amino acids, glycogen metabolism, citric acid cycle, respiratory chain), enzymes, signal transduction (hormones, receptors), molecular biology (DNA technology, cloning, PCR). The practical course covers a wide spectrum of biochemical analysis involving an introduction to biochemical laboratory, proteases, hemoglobin, glycolysis, isoenzymes, enzyme kinetics, second messengers, urine, blood and lipid analysis, gene technology and protein synthesis, glycogen.
