Instrumental Analysis (PHCM662)
Offered By:
Pharmacy and Biotechnology Faculty
Description
The course deals with different techniques for analysis, especially based on the electrical behavior of drugs in solutions (potentiometry, polarography, stripping voltammetry, amperometry, colormetry, conductometry). Detailed understanding of mass spectrometry and the different types of mass spectrometers, interpretation of fragmentation patterns of different compounds, determination of exact molecular weights of compounds. The use of the combination of gas chromatography and mass-spectrometry (GC-MS) as well as liquid chromatography and mass-spectrometry (LC-MS). Different techniques of atomic spectroscopy, atomization, instrumentation, multi-channel detection.
The practical course includes experiments and data interpretation on the major techniques covered in this course with particular focus on methods relevant in pharmacopoeial monographs.
