Introduces the theory and use of numerical design methods, with a major focus on the problem formulation and algorithms relevant to engineering design. Methods for unconstrained nonlinear problems, constrained linear and nonlinear problems, heuristic search methods:Tabu search, simulated annealing and genetic algorithms, sensitivity analysis and practical applications.
