Syrian Refugees Scholarship Program
for Masters Degree
in Cooperation with GUC
The German Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in cooperation with Ulm University, are gladly announcing 10 scholarship opportunities to young Syrians, currently residing in Egypt registered as refugees through the UNHCR to study a two-year Master Program in the fields of Engineering or Management Technology starting the academic year 2017 / 2018 at the German University in Cairo.
The German University in Cairo wishes that the intended scholarships will give the postgraduate students the possibility to shape their future, to create new perspectives and to open new horizons. Such study opportunities shall also serve the goal of preparing highly qualified professionals and leaders that could play an integral role in rebuilding their home country Syria.

The Scholarship Covers:
- Tuition fees for the completion of a two-year Master degree
- Monthly allowance of 500 €
- Any extra preparatory university courses if needed
The scholarships are offered for the standard period of study in the chosen program (maximum duration of two years), in addition to the preparatory courses before the start of the actual Master Program studies if needed.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Syrians nationals who are currently living in Egypt and registered by UNHCR as refugees.
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (within the last 5 years) in the same field from an accredited university with a minimum overall GPA of at least “Good” no more than five years since the completion of this degree.
Selection Criteria:
The selection for the scholarship will follow the admission regulations at the GUC. All students fulfilling the application requirements for the program as well as applying before the deadline and submitting the needed documents as announced are being considered for the scholarship. The top ten ranked applicants will be awarded the scholarship.
Ranking of the applicants is based on:
- Academic Degrees ( Bachelor & High School )
- GUC Admission Tests
- Letter of Motivation
- Work related experience
Admission Processes:
- Fill in an Online Application here
- Once you fill in online application you’ll receive a GUC application number.
- Receive an ‘ Admission Test Invitation Email ‘, where you’ll be asked to reserve the admission test session online
- Sit for the GUC Admission Test at GUC Campus
- Pass the GUC Reasoning test
- Pass GUC Computerized English Language Test
- Submit a copy of required documents
On the same day of the admission test, please submit a copy of the following documents:
- Bachelor Degree Certificate and Transcript
- High School certificate
- Curriculum Vitae and any work / internship certificates
- Copy of a valid Passport
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Letter of Motivation in English
- Original & Stamped UNHCR Document
N.B: on the date of the admission test, the applicant MUST arrive at GUC admission office at least ONE HOUR before the session start time in order to complete the registration process for the test.

- Receive a final feedback from the GUC Admission Office based on your credentials evaluation
- Upon Final Acceptance, please submit original/certified documents:
- Bachelor Degree Certificate and Transcript
- High School Certificate
- Birth Certificate
- 3 Personal Photos
