Financial Markets and Institutions course is held at GUC-Berlin campus from 3 August – 30 August 2019. The course instructor is Dr. Mona ElBannan, Associate Professor of Finance in the Department of Accounting and Finance. Since 2015, the course “Financial Markets and Institutions” is offered every summer at GUC-Berlin for five consecutive years. Main advantage for this course is that the financial theories are linked to practical real life cases in the German economy. This is accomplished through many visits to important financial intuitions in Berlin, and guest speaker lectures provided by German professionals. For instance, the students visited many federal associations of different bank groups; Bundesverband Deutscher Banken (BDB), Bundesverband der Deutschen Volksbanken und Raiffeisenbanken e.V. – BVR, Bundesverband Öffentlicher Banken Deutschlands, VÖB, and German Fintech Startup Company. In addition, Prof. Mona organized a three-day Workshop at the Central bank of Germany-Berlin titled: “The monetary policy and financial stability.” All students received a certificate of attendance and participation for the Bundesbank Workshop.
