In cooperation with the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW, the university of applied sciences in Berlin), a research center for sustainable production and digital transformation is being built in Cairo.
In April 2019, the DAAD-funded SUSTAIN project had its kick-off event at the GUC in Cairo. The aim of the project is the establishment of a research and service center "Sustainable Production and Digital Transformation" at the GUC (https://www.htw-berlin.de/forschung/online-forschungskatalog/projekte/projekt/?eid=2765).
During the kick-off meeting, Prof. Dr. Molthagen-Schnöring, Vice President for Research and Transfer, and Dr. Jochen Hönow, Head of the International Office, on behalf of the HTW Berlin, visited the GUC to meet with the GUC team and discuss potential steps for the success of the project.
During the period 24 – 29 June, the GUC team visited the HTW Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Slim Abdennadher, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs at the GUC (center left in the picture) to gather information about research approaches and methods of sustainable production and renewable energies. The core of the methods are applications in corporate environmental informatics. They are especially designed to help companies in Cairo to operate cost-efficiently and sustainably.
