The German University in Cairo hosted and sponsored the annual gathering and Iftar of the DAAD Egypt (German Academic Exchange Service - Egypt Office) Alumni Association of Egypt. Many professors and young scientists from a variety of Egyptian universities gathered in a friendly academic environment and enjoyed a vivid Ramadan atmosphere.
It is worth noting that the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is an organization that promotes the international exchange of students and scientists. It is, in fact, the world’s largest organization as concerns financing scientific mobility. As an association of German universities, DAAD represents 231 German universities and higher education institutions, with over 500 representatives in nearly 100 countries. The DAAD Regional Office Cairo offers consultation on scholarships and funding possibilities and also holds various cultural activities and events, such as lectures and conferences.
The Iftar was attended by many of DAAD's Alumni headed by Prof. Ashraf Mansour the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of GUC, who gave a welcome speech and a motivational talk. The DAAD Alumni Association is a congregation of DAAD alumni from various academic fields. The association was founded in 1998 and since then has been active and engaged in different community activities and services.
