GUC Library

The GUC Library is a basic part of the daily GUC academic & research life. Accordingly, it offers a variety of collections that include textbooks, periodicals, references (dictionaries, encyclopedias …etc.) and most up-to-date scientific and academic online databases that give access to millions of primary sources for research purposes, in addition to CDs that cover different disciplines and books in different fields. Collections available are in German, English and Arabic as well as a small collection in French.

The library is a member of the South-West Library Association in the State of Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany, a member of Egyptian Libraries Association and a member of International Committee of Libraries in Egypt; accordingly, the library is connected to the library's network in the State of Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and the Egyptian Universities Online Network with accessibility to its major online databases.

The library databases and online journals are all accessible throughout the entire GUC Campus via wired or wireless connectivity, as well as off-campus using a valid Proxy/ Log-In User Account.

The GUC Library is located in the (-1) Level of (C1) Building and has a seating capacity of 220 seats in a pleasant surrounding offering an inviting space for reading, in addition to more than 700 PC's (PC Pools) that are connected directly to the Library and the availability of laptops and wireless technology throughout the campus grounds.

An introductory orientation tour to familiarize new students with the library use is held at the beginning of every semester.

The Library is committed to provide first class service to the GUC Community and support faculties’ curriculum through the provision of instructional and research needs/collections.

1. Increase access to library information, material and expertise in ways that are appropriate to meet the present and future information needs
2. Support and promote current and anticipated research/teaching at the University through the Library's function as a repository of recorded information and knowledge - cultural treasures
3. Affirm the role of the Library as a partner with academic departments in the pursuit of knowledge and of the University's educational goals
4. Promote the learning concept to use information and knowledge resources as a significant part of a university education
5. Educate readers in the use of Library resources/services and encourage responsibility in use of such resources

The GUC Library Membership and Accessibility is open for all its Under- and Post-Graduate Students, as well as the GUC Academic and Administrative Staff. Currently, the library has more than 6000 users classified as follows

1. Students: Around 5500
2. Faculty and Member Staff: Around 550
3. MBA Students: Around 200

On average, the library receives around 15000 visitors per month; an average of 580 visits per day

   More than 75,000 full text articles, 200,000 reviews from the world's leading management journals, in addition to case studies, literature reviews, book reviews, conference information, interviews and profiles

Further to the above, the library has access to the KIZ online library of Ulm - Germany, where GUC members are recognized as a member of the network at Ulm and may use services available in Ulm, especially e-journals.

The current system is KOHA, which offers functions such as cataloging, circulation, acquisition, and library reports. The Catalog is offered to all users within GUC campus.
